This project is an adaptation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Within the narrative structure, Gregor’s family is reimagined as beetles that have not yet undergone metamorphosis. The body of the larva is abstracted through an origami-inspired construction. After extensive research into beetle anatomy, I combined insect structures with the human form, applying an uneven, mirror-like surface to the beetle shell to reflect the distorted social conditions and human psyche of the story’s world.
